Hyderabad April 22, 2018: The Hon‘ble Vice President of India M. Venkaiah Naidu inaugurated Telangana’s first ever Golden Temple at Banjara Hills today at Hare Krishna Movement – Swayambhu Sri Lakshami Narasimha Swamy kshetram. This is the first swarna devalayam (Golden Temple) of Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy in Telangana.
The inauguration is formally called Swayambhu Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Jeernoddharana Prayuktha Nootana Swarna Alaya Pratishtha Kumbhaprokshana Mahotsavam. The inauguration rituals and consecreation ceremonies which started on April 17 with the Ankurarpana culminated with the following rituals viz., poornahuti, prana pratistha and alaya vimana shikara prokshana. All of the consecration ceremonies and rituals were done strictly as per Pancharatrika Veda Agama Shastras and the Shiva temple rituals as per Shaivite Agama under the supervision of expert Yagnacharyas of Sri Sri Sri Chinna Jeeyar Swamy ashramam.
On the morning of April 22 the main Kumbhaprokshana day, all the rituals like poornahuti, prana pratistha, samprokshana, etc., were performed under the auspicious presence of His Holiness Sri Sri Sri Chinna Jeeyar Swamy and His Grace Madhu Pandit Dasa, Padma Shri awardee, President of ISKCON Bangalore, Chairman of Hare Krishna Movement & Akshaya Patra Foundation.
After the morning rituals and consecration pujas, Hare Krishna Movement had the privilege of receiving the Vice President of India M Venkaiah Naidu as its Chief Guest for the Pradhama Darshan, Aradhana and Kalyanam of the Lord. The Vice President formally inaugurated the temple by being the first to enter from the grand Raja Gopuram entrance and also unveiled an inauguration plaque. He was received and accompanied by His Grace Madhu Pandit Dasa for the Golden temple tour who explained about the unique features and specialties of the newly built golden temple.
Later the Vice President carried the Pattu Vastralu and Talambaralu for the first kalyanam of Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy at the newly built Hare Krishna Sankirtan Bhavan. The stage program had the invocation and lamp lighting and speeches by His Grace Satya Gaura Chandra Dasa – President of Hare Krishna Movement and Akshaya Patra (Telangana & AP), His Grace Madhu Pandit Dasa which was followed by a speech by the Vice President and a vote of thanks. Later the Vice President and all the dignitaries were presented with temple honors.
The grand first kalyanam of Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy concluded with a sumptuous feast (vindu bhojanam) for all the participating devotees.
Sringeri Peetha Uttaradhikari Jagadguru Sri Sri Sri Vidhu Sekhara Swamiji made his auspicious presence in the evening for the Darshan & Aradhana of Their Lordships.
Later in the evening a grand Sri Sri Radha Govinda Abhishekam was conducted for the first time and this was followed by dolotsavam to the accompaniment of some soul stirring bhajans and ecstatic kirtans.
All the celebrations were done in the auspicious presence of His Grace Madhu Pandit Dasa and His Grace Chanchalapathi Dasa, Vice President of ISKCON Bangalore & Vice Chairman of Hare Krishna Movement and Akshaya Patra Foundation. Also present were Governing Body members of Hare Krishna Movement, Presidents of Hare Krishna Movement representing various centers in India, senior devotees, congregation & youth members of the Hare Krishna Movement worldwide. Also in attendance were many central and state ministers, bureaucrats, public representatives and scores of devotees and the general public.
From April 23 to 29, 2018 there will be a weeklong celebration culminating on Sri Narasimha Jayanti (April 29). As part of the celebrations there would be Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy pallakki utsava on April 23, 24 & 25. There will be a special Sri Narasimha Homa on April 26 and Sri Lakshmi sahastranama kumkumarchana on April 27 followed by a homa on April 28. On April 29, Sri Narasimha Jayanti day there will be a grand kalyanam.
Speaking on the occasion, His Grace Satya Gaura Chandra Dasa said, “We are proud to announce the inauguration of Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple along with upalayams. It took us two long years to create this structure and give Telangana its first Golden Temple. With the hard work and dedication of each and every member involved in this project, we are glad that now the temple will be open to the visitors and they can witness the marvelous beauty created in the heart of the city. We would like to take this opportunity to thank thousands of our well-wishers and supporters for their continuous support and also we would like to thank our Honorable Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao for the confidence placed in us for renovation and development of this Kshetram and for fully supporting and encouraging all our initiatives.”

HKM-H are the legal leaseholders of the Swayambhu Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple and adjoining temple land of 4.38 acres located on Road #12, Banjara Hills. The Endowments Department has entrusted us with the renovation, restoration, upgradation, and maintenance of the existing Swayambhu Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple and have also given us the task of constructing a grand religious-cum-cultural complex for promoting spiritual values in the society on a long-term lease of 33 years as per GO # 359.
The unique feature of the temple is that all the vimanas of Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy, Sri Panchajanyeshwara Swamy (Lord Shiva), Sri Radha Govinda, Sri Garuda and Sri Hanuman are made with pure gold. The temples and Deities of this golden temple will have the following names:
1) Swayambhu Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy
2) Sri Panchajanyeshwara Swamy (Kshetra Palakulu)
3) Sri Radha Govinda (Upalayamu)
4) Sri Garuda (Upalayamu)
5) Sri Chaturbhuja Japa Anjaneya Swamy (Upalayamu)
6) Ancient Sri Narayana Saligrama
The temple land houses a big garden and a sacred waterfall for the pleasure of the Lord and His devotees. Almost 3.5 kgs of gold worth Rs 4 crores has been used in the construction of the Golden Temple and Rs 15 crores is spent on building the temple.
In Phase1, we have completed the works and inaugurated the temple for Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy along with Lord Shiva (Panchajanyeshwara) and Upalayams of Sri Radha Govinda, Sri Garuda & Sri Hanuman.
