Sri-Lakshmi-Narasimha-Swamy-Moola-Vigraha-HKM-HyderabadHyderabad, Dec 29, 2017: Hare Krishna Movement Hyderabad (HKM Hyd) celebrated Vaikuntha Ekadashi today at Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Temple located in Road#12, at Banjara Hills.

Of all Ekadashis, Vaikuntha Ekadashi acquires special significance because the great saint of the Sri Vaishnava Sampradaya, Nammalwar, who comes in the disciplic succession of Sri Ramanuja, went back home, back to Godhead on this day. Lord Vishnu, the Lord of Vaikuntha was at the door of Vaikuntha to receive His unalloyed devotee, Nammalwar. To commemorate this great event, generally all Vishnu temples create a Vaikuntha dwara – a special entrance – in the temple on the northern side and the utsava deities of the temple are installed near the dwara. It is said that anyone who passes through the Vaikuntha dwara is guaranteed to go back to Vaikuntha.

Dvitrimasati-SahasranamarchanaThe Vaikuntha Ekadashi celebrations began as early as 4.30 a.m. with a grand abhisheka to Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Moola Vigraha. Varieties of flowers, fruit juices, pancha dravyas, etc., were used for the abhisheka. Later on the Utsava Vigraha of the Lord was carried by the devotees around the temple, the Vaikuntha dwara pratishta wherein the Lord gives darshan through the northern door of the temple. This door (Vaikuntha dwara), was opened for devotees 5.30 a.m. onwards.

At 9.30 a.m. there was an offering of Dvitrimasati Sahasranamarchana of chanting of 32,000 names of Sri Narasimha Swamy Ashtottaram & at 6.30 p.m. there was a grand Vishnu Sahasra Nama Homa for the pleasure of Lord Vishnu to bring in peace & prosperity for all mankind.
