Chaitanya Bhagavata states that “One will surely attain Sri Chaitanya and Sri Nityananda simply by remembering Kaliya Krishna Dasa.”
Sri Kaliya Krishna Dasa was born in Burdhaman (Burdwan) district of West Bengal at the small village called Akai Hatta.
He was one of the principal devotees of Nityananda Prabhu. Completely devoted to Lord Nityananda, Kaliya Krishna Dasa knew nothing but the lotus feet of Sri Nityananda Prabhu. The deity which he worshiped was named Kala Chand.
Kavi Karnapura's Gaura-Ganodesha-Dipika states that he is Labhanga, one of Krishna-Balarama's cowherd boy friends.
Sri Kaliya Krishna Dasa Thakura left his body while doing bhajana in Vrindavana. His disappearance day is on the twelfth day of the dark moon in the month of Agrahayana.
