"It is not a fact that because material enjoyment involves so many painful conditions one will automatically become detached. One needs the blessings of a devotee like Narada Muni. Then one can renounce his attachment for the material world. The young boys and girls of the Krishna consciousness movement have given up the spirit of material enjoyment not because of practice but by the mercy of Lord Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu and His servants."
(Srimad-Bhagavatam 6.5.41, Purport)
"In our Krishna Consciousness Movement, anyone who has got full blessings and confidence of the Spiritual Master, and therefore Krishna, his success is sure. In the Chaitanya Charitamrta it is said 'guru krsna krpaya paya bhakti lata bija (CC Madhya 19.151).'"
(Srila Prabhupada Letter, May 26, 1969)
"The secret of success in spiritual life is in satisfying the spiritual master and thereby getting his sincere blessings. Srila Visvanatha Chakravarti Thakura has sung in his famous eight stanzas on the spiritual master as follows: 'I offer my respectful obeisances unto the lotus feet of my spiritual master. Only by his satisfaction can one please the Personality of Godhead, and when he is dissatisfied there is only havoc on the path of spiritual realization.'"
(Srimad-Bhagavatam 1.1.8, Purport)
"One must be able to pass the test of the spiritual master, and when he sees the genuine desire of the disciple, he automatically blesses the disciple with genuine spiritual understanding."
(Bhagavad-gita As It Is 4.34, Purport)
"One should approach the spiritual master with all humility and offer him all services so that he will be pleased to bestow his blessings upon the disciple. Because a bona fide spiritual master is a representative of Krishna, if he bestows any blessings upon his disciple, that will make the disciple immediately advanced without the disciple's following the regulative principles. Or, the regulative principles will be easier for one who has served the spiritual master without reservation."
(Bhagavad-gita As It Is 13.8-12, Purport)
"'A disciple who has actual love for his spiritual master is endowed, by the blessings of the spiritual master, with all confidential knowledge.' Srila Sridhara Svami has commented that the word snigdhasya means prema-vatah. The word prema-vatah indicates that one has great love for his spiritual master."
(Chaitanya-charitamrta Madhya 17.15, Purport)
