Kakinada, Jan 22 (UNI): The Kakinada sea Ports Limited (KSPL ) which is managing the Deep water port under privatization donated Rs 1.56 Crore to Akshaya Patra organization for the purpose of construction of a centralized kitchen for serving the Mid day meal programme. 

K. V Rao ,chairman and Managing director of KSPL handed over the cheque for Rs.1,56,47,075/- to district Collector Kartikeya Mishra at a brief function held at the Collectorate here on Tuesday.

The Chief Operating Officer of KSPL Merla Muralidhar who was present said that they had already donated two vehicles for supplying of food to the poor students.

Akshaya Patra foundation is a non-profitable charitable trust running the mid day meal programme across the country and in Kakinada providing food for 15,000 children in government schools.

  At present the food is cooked at the temporary kitchen in Ramaraopet area .The government has recently allotted a two acre site at Vakalapudi on the city outskirts for construction of permanent centralized kitchen and KSPL has extended funds under CSR programme.
