The ancient Swayambhu Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple on Banjara Hills Road No.12 here that was being renovated and restored by Hare Krishna Movement (HKM) for the past four years, will be inaugurated on April 22.

The temple’s ‘vimana gopuram’ and pillars are coated with pure gold-plates weighing around 3.5 kg, said Satya Gaura Chandra Dasa, president, HKM. “It is the first Swarna Devalayam (golden temple) in the State,” he said, adding that the temple will have an artificial waterfall and landscaping.

The grand religious-cum-cultural complex is being constructed on 4.38 acres for promoting spiritual values in the society, he said. “In phase I, we have completed works of the main temple along with those of Lord Shiva and upalayams of Sri Radha Govinda, Sri Garuda and Sri Hanuman.

The upalayam vimana will also be coated with gold-plates during phase II,” Mr Chandra Dasa said, adding that phase I involves an estimated spending of Rs. 15 crore.

Dozens of artisans from Tamil Nadu are working round the clock to complete the task on time.
