ISKCON Bangalore conducted a 10-hour long Harinam festival at its Open Air Theatre on June 4, 2017.
The festival was inaugurated by His Grace Madhu Pandit Dasa, President, ISKCON Bangalore. Speaking about the significance of Harinam festival, he said, “Harinam festival is a great opportunity for all of us to absorb ourselves in chanting and hearing the holy names of the Lord. The Lord is omnipotent. He has multifarious ways to manifest Himself into material energy. The holy name is the incarnation of the Lord in the form of vibration.
In every incarnation, the Lord engages in His particular lila. The Hare Krishna maha mantra – the 16-word vibration, has its own lila. In fact we all have become devotees because of the mercy of the Hare Krishna maha mantra. So every kind of situation should be utilised to glorify this avatara – the Hare Krishna maha mantra.”
He went on to explain that, “Complete absorption in the Nama avatara is easily achieved in the form of kirtana. Sankirtana and japa are ways of worshipping the most merciful Nama avatara. Those who are intelligent, worship the Lord in the form of this sankirtana yajna.”
Several devotees lead the Harinam sankirtana in batches with melodious tunes. Among these was a batch of Sunday Sankirtan School children whose performance was applauded by the audience.
The sankirtana also included songs of the Vaishnava acharyas on the glories of the holy name.
The Harinam Sankirtana proved to be a great festival for devotees and the temple visitors alike to immerse them in chanting the nectarean holy names of Lord Krishna and relish spiritual bliss.
