BHUJ, January 17, 2019: The Akshaya Patra Foundation, Gujarat is opening its midday meal kitchen in Bhuj on January 19, 2019 with the support of Sarva Mangal Family Trust and Balkrishna Industries Limited (BKT).
The new kitchen with a built-up area of 4244 sq.mt. will be the Foundation’s 6th kitchen in the state and 42nd in the country.
Shri Vinodbhai Chavda, MP, Kutch; Dr. Nimaben Acharya, MLA, Bhuj and Shri Virendrasinh Jadeja, MLA, Mandvi will be the Chief Guests at the inaugural ceremony. Shri Manu and Smt. Rika Shah, Founders, Sarva Mangal Family Trust and Shri Arvind Poddar, Chairman & Managing Director, Balkrishna Industries Limited will be the Guests of Honour. Shri Laxmansinh Sodha, Hon. President, District Panchayat, Kutch and Smt Amrutben Rabadia, Sarpanch, Sukhpar, Bhuj will be the Special Guests. The ceremony will be presided by His Grace Jaganmohan Krishna Dasa, President, The Akshaya Patra Foundation, Gujarat.
Akshaya Patra started serving midday meals from Gandhinagr in the year 2007 and expanded its services to five other cities of Gujarat. It is currently feeding around four lakh beneficiaries in Ahmedabad, Bhavnagar, Vadodara, Surat, and Kalol through its five centralized kitchens. Considering the overwhelming need for its services, the Foundation decided to advance its provisions to include serving nutritional food to school-going children in Bhuj. The new kitchen will be another milestone towards achieving Akshaya Patra’s mission of feeding 5 million school children every day by 2020.
