Not so long ago, while I was reading SB first canto again, I came across verse 15.21. It says,

tad vai dhanus ta isavah sa ratho hayaas te
so ‘ham rathi nrpatayo yata aanamanti
sarvam ksanena tad abhud asad isa-riktam
bhasman hutam kuhaka-raaddham ivoptam usyaam

Arjuna laments “I have the very same Gandiva bow, the same arrows, the same chariot drawn by the same horses, and I use them as the same Arjuna to whom all the kings offered their due respects. But in the absence of Lord Krishna, all of them, at a moment’s notice, have become null and void. It is exactly like offering clarified butter on ashes, accumulating money with a magic wand or sowing seeds on barren land.”

This is such a beautiful verse…I never realized it the first time around! It is like a wake-up call from Arjuna to everyone to show what happens in Krishna’s absence. Actually Krishna is never absent…if only, it is our feelings and our love of Him that go away from time to time. Yet He stands there like a rock, never wavering in His love for us! This verse so beautifully describes how sore it can be to suddenly realize that we are missing Krishna. ‘Makes me miss Krishna all the more!

Anyone chanting the Holy Names of the Lord sincerely can realize that in Krishna Consciousness, once you are in, you are ACTUALLY in. You may, in forgetfulness, go away again, to wander about in the by-lanes and alleys of life, but it will never be the same. It can never s  atisfy the mind or the senses…

Anything devoid of Krishna is tasteless

A devoted, sincere disciple – a true Vaishnava – is never misguided to fight for useless causes. That’s the simple truth and a display of the causeless mercy of the Supreme Lord. And whenever such a person, like Madhu Pandit Prabhu for example, faithfully takes up a noble cause to fight or die for, it is inevitable that Krishna will arrange for many other sincere (and miraculously, some insincere) people to extend their support directly (or indirectly). Krishna – the Super Powerful – can bring a change of heart in anyone, at anytime under any circumstance. How this works is something only He knows…that’s classified information

The Sweet Lord knows exactly how to captivate the hearts and minds of devotees and He always provides a cool refuge to their hopes and prayers. Krishna never ever looks upon anyone as His foe…yet He has so many friends in his devotees. He loves back ten-fold all those who love Him and keeps them from harm’s way. At every step, at every moment He is, through life’s many instances, providing reflective surfaces for our own blemishes. That we may, with His help, fight the ‘demons’ within. This kind of simple connection with our Eternal Master can happen IF AND ONLY IF we are following the trail of parampara …following our spiritual master’s instructions earnestly. The result of this kind of faith in a pure devotee’s words is, an inexplicable relief and blissful reinstatement …something whose effect not only lasts but multiplies over an endless period of time.

Someone who doesn’t yearn for this kind of eternal position is truly misguided…and why not! This position can be awarded only to the followers of a pure devotee of the Lord…of a spiritual master like Srila Prabhupad. What can one speak of those who deliberately or mistakenly chose unauthorized “gurus”. One can only truly empathize with such fellow living beings, for, they know not that an unauthorized path leads away from Krishna…

And a life devoid of Krishna is not just tasteless, but also very dangerous!
