ISKCON Bangalore conducted Srila Prabhupada Ashraya ceremony and a spiritual session for the participants of Krishna Life programme on February 18, 2018.
The Krishna Life sessions initiated by ISKCON Bangalore takes the message of the Bhagavad-gita to apartment complexes across the city for busy working professionals. As the working professionals generally find it difficult to attend the spiritual sessions at the ISKCON temple due to heavy traffic and other reasons, the Krishna Life programme has proven to be a boon for them to attend the classes conducted at their door-steps.
The programme is conducted free of cost on weekends and includes a short thought-provoking talk by a senior ISKCON devotee, a meditation session and singing of bhajans and kirtans. In addition to spiritual growth, the programme also finds its use in dealing with the day-to-day challenges, improving relations and skills in the professional and private lives of the participants.
The teaching capsules keep participants’ children in mind too, by teaching them moral principles and spiritual values through the stories of great personalities in the Vedic texts.
Srila Prabhupada Ashraya ceremony was conducted in the main temple hall. Seventy participants of Krishna Life took a spiritual oath to practice the basic rules and regulations of a Krishna conscious life, including chanting a certain number of rounds of the Hare Krishna mantra every day. The different levels of the spiritual commitments and the number of participants committed to that level were – Shraddhavan (37), Sevaka (11), Sadhaka (14) and Vandana (8). His Grace Madhu Pandit Dasa, Temple President, presided over the ceremony and gave an inspiring talk on the significance of chanting the Hare Krishna mantra and how to practice it.
After the Ashraya ceremony, the participants attended a spiritual discourse by His Grace Vasudev Keshav Dasa, Vice President of the temple. He elaborated on the differences between the temporary love on the material plane and the eternal love on the spiritual platform. He spoke about the process of attaining the eternal loving relationship with Lord Krishna and by explaining how the chanting of the holy names of Krishna helps to awaken this loving relationship.
His Grace Vasudev Keshav Dasa felicitated 22 volunteer families who extended immense help and support for conducting Krishna Life sessions at about 14 apartments in Whitefield and other places in the city.
The event also included a wonderful performance by the children of the participants, such as group discussion on Vedic wisdom, chanting selected verses from the Bhagavad-gita and other scriptures and a tableau on the transmigration of the soul.
The event concluded with maha-sankirtana and lunch prasadam.
