ISKCON Bangalore conducted the initiation (diksha) ceremony at the temple on February 9th, 2017, the auspicious day of Sri Nityananda Trayodashi.

This was in accordance with the ritvik system of initiation set up by Srila Prabhupada as outlined in his Institutional Directive dated July 9, 1977. The devotees who are initiated as per the ritvik system would become the direct disciples of Srila Prabhupada.

Both first (Harinama) and second (Brahminical) initiations were conducted during the ceremony. Harinama initiation is the formal acceptance of the holy names of the Lord in the form of Hare Krishna mantra from the spiritual master. During the Brahminical initiation the initiated devotee receives a sacred thread and Gayatri mantra from the spiritual master.

Nine full-time devotees received Brahmana diksha and 17 devotees received Harinama diksha from His Divine Grace Srila Prabhupada.

Sri Madhu Pandit Dasa, Temple President and Sri Vasudev Keshav Dasa, Vice-President were present on the occasion.

All the initiated devotees were glad that they had taken shelter of Srila Prabhupada as their guru in their journey towards spiritual perfection.
